| Bio: | I am an American currently living in Kiev, Ukraine. I grew up in Framingham, MA and lived in Boston for 9 years. Although I have traveled quite a bit, I have never lived any place except in MA. In October of 2004, I moved to Kiev with my husband who is Ukrainian born and had been living in Boston for 8 years. I have been writing email letters to my friends and family about my experiences here and have shot nearly 2,000 photos including a number during the Orange Revolution and Viktor Yushchenko’s Inauguration. I don’t consider myself a writer. I like to think of myself as an artist evolving. When my family and friends first suggested I write a book about my experiences here, I thought I could never do that. I’m dyslexic and was undiagnosed with this through my entire education, so when I think about writing, I think about all of the red marks all over my reports and term papers. It was not very encouraging! When I was a freshman in high school I was tested to have a 12th grade vocabulary and a 6th grade spelling level. I also read at a snails pace but, no one seemed to think anything of it even when my IQ was tested at 129. I always loved art and could draw things in front of me, but not from memory. Like spelling. The order of the letters and the way they and other shapes are formed just gets mixed up in my head some how. Since I felt I couldn’t draw well, photography seemed like a great way to express my creativity. I studied photography at the Art Institute of Boston for 2 years then went on to get a degree in interior design. A friend told me about LiveJournal, and I thought this would be a good way to get some feed back to my work. | |||||
